Assessment Services

If you are wishing to access government funded services you will first need to be screened by a My Aged Care Customer Solution Specialist. This involves a series of short questions which will allow them to send you to the appropriate assessment service.  Alternatively, you could make an on-line self-referral with the same question which will also send you to the appropriate assessment agency.

Home Support Assessment

Conducted by an assessor from the Regional Assessment Services (RAS). During your assessment, an assessor will work with you and ask you about your daily activities and difficulties that you are currently experiencing. If your assessment shows you are eligible for support, your Assessor will develop a support plan. RAS assessors can refer you to Commonwealth Home Support Service and other non-government services.

Comprehensive Assessment

Conducted by an assessor from the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). This is a clinical assessment to determine your care needs. ACAT assessors can refer you to Home Care Packages, Short Term Restorative Care, Transitional Care Packages, Residential Respite and Residential Care. Also where appropriate they can also refer to Commonwealth Home Support Service and other non-government services.
