In Home Care

The Australian Government offers a range of services that can give you extra help at home. These services include domestic assistance, personal care, meal services and nursing care.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme

If you are able to manage, but need that extra support with a few tasks, you could be eligible for some subsidised support through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). This program aims to help those who need a low level of support to keep living independently. Only recommended to those who need one or two services, per fortnight.

Short term Restorative Care (STRC)

Short-term restorative care is designed to help you reverse or slow the difficulties you are having with everyday tasks. It involves a program of activities and exercises to improve strength and balance. It may also mean arranging access to mobility aids, a dietician to help you prepare nutritious meals, or installing minor modifications around the house such as bathroom rails. STRC can delay the need for long-term care and support services

Home Care Package

Home Care Packages (HCP) are for those with greater or more complex care needs. If you need many types of care on an ongoing basis, you could be eligible for a HCP. As everyone’s care needs are different, there are four levels of HCP with different funding amounts. These covers basic support needs through to high care needs. Currently, if you assessed as eligible, you will go on a waiting list before being allocated a package.
